I am a lifetime Springfield resident with four generations of my family proudly calling our municipality home.
Twenty-five years ago, I helped start a fencing business out of my garage and build it into an international company. My corporate finance & business development experience taught me to read financial statements, manage budgets, plan long-term and make responsible financial decisions.
I have a strong record of community advocacy & public service.
Community Advocate
Helped raise public awareness and community support on key local issues, by meeting hundreds of residents door to door over the last four years.
STOP Sio Silica Campaign
Helped lead the referendum/poll where over 95% of participating residents voted NO to Sio Silica. Protecting our clean water remains one of Springfield’s most critical responsibilities.
Preserve Our Rural Identity
Successfully organized opposition to WMR Plan 20-50 to prevent Springfield from turning into a suburb of Winnipeg.
“I am running for Mayor to protect Springfield’s water, preserve our rural character, support responsible growth, and manage your tax dollars wisely.”
Council should be the Stewards of Your Taxpayer Dollars, managing public funds responsibly, fiscally, and ethically. I want to make affordable decisions that benefit residents.
Councillors Melinda Warren (Mayoral candidate) & Glen Fuhl (Ward 1 candidate) propose to increase municipal debt from $7 million to possibly $80 million over three years.
Interest costs alone could add hundreds of dollars to your annual property taxes. Major projects should be affordable and supported by realistic growth projections.
There is a growing need in rural municipalities, including Springfield, to hold councils accountable between elections.
Council must act in the best interest of taxpayers. When it fails, there should be consequences.
I will work with a new council to hold public hearings and workshops to help introduce a 51% Recall Legislation.
I believe: Instead of a PRO Sio Silica Council We need a NO Sio Silica Council
One of the key issues Springfield is facing is Sio Silica’s 2nd application to mine in our freshwater aquifer.
Residents Agree: We have the RIGHT to clean water, in our wells and water systems. Water is our most valuable resource and must be protected.
Residents must be welcomed and encouraged to participate in Council meetings and town halls. In their term, Councillors Warren & Fuhl eliminated Question Period.
Many residents felt discouraged and stopped attending council meetings.
I believe Council should immediately make a resolution that all residents are welcome to attend and actively participate in all council-held events.
